Depends on maakeup of gang, in a mmulti billion ISK carrier I should be able to tank a gang of cuisers/Small gang of BS, but I will not fly solo when an inty and a cruiser can cripple me. So I ALWAYS want support no matter the size of the gang I'm going up against.

1 v 5 What? See 2 above. Inties are too fast to catch with drones, cruisers can kill my lock and I only have the damage output of a BS. Assuming a gang of ONLY BS with no support I should be able to take 4-5, even one damp and scram in the enemy makeup and I'm down a carrier.

Loaded question so I won't answer directly. Every ship has counters, For balance the counters should be more difficult the more time/energy and ISK is spent on getting the ship. To counter a Titan should be extremely hard, to counter a MS very difficult and carriers less difficult than a MS. Given skill and ISK cost of these ships they SHOULD be much more difficult to kill than a Battleship - they are often NOT.

Again a loaded question. I do not approve of and do not want to see this change as it fundementally alters my perception of the way carriers work, it makes them more vulnerable, less flexible and less fun.
Instead I would (personally) take away the ability to remote rep (enforcing logistics support for your carriers and kills Spider tank carrier groups), take away the ability to assign drones (forces carriers to front lines where they can be killed) and either Make carriers unable to release drones/fighters in low-sec or prevent it on same grid as a low-sec gate (Prevents gate camping in low sec)
